JENNIFER LOPEZ and ex-husband CRIS JUDD will go head-to-head when they both launch television dancing shows later this year (06). Lopez is working with MTV on her reality series MOVES, where she will select and audition dancers, as well as act as an executive producer. The I’M REAL hitmaker will use her dance training and experience to assist aspiring dancers in their careers in the fly-on-the-wall show. Meanwhile, former dancer and choreographer Judd will host DIRTY DANCING: LIVING THE DREAM, a small-screen version of the 1987 PATRICK SWAYZE and JENNIFER GREY movie with a reality TV twist. The series will pair novice female dancers with experienced professionals who will train and compete for a featured role in the national cast of the upcoming DIRTY DANCING musical. Judd’s series will air on US cable network Women’s Entertainment (WE).

MARIAH CAREY is desperate to start work on her new film TENNESSEE, after taking over the part from R+B rival JANET JACKSON. Jackson piled on the pounds to play a waitress in the film, but had to drop out after the project started interfering with her musical comeback. Producer, LEE DANIELS, who made MONSTER’S BALL, hand then turned to Carey after seeing her in a small movie role. Carey explains, “It was really great because I did this little independent film with MIRA SORVINO called WISE GIRLS. “He happened to see it and hadn’t seen “the other one” (her film flop GLITTER), so it was really cool because doing that enabled more doors to open for me. “I haven’t begun shooting yet. I’m very excited about it!”

Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt expressed their joy at the birth of daughter Shiloh by donating $300,000 to two state-run Namibian hospitals. The money will be used to improve the hospitals’ maternity wards, which will aid other newborns. “We want to contribute to Namibia and the people who have been so gracious to us at this time,” said the couple in a press release. In addition to their hospital gifts, Pitt and Jolie also pledged $15,000 for a school and a community centre.

Rihanna and Fall Out Boy bassist Pete Wentz are red carpet pros ” they’ve both been interviewed and photographed on a number of them in the past year. But during this year’s MTV Movie Awards pre-show, they’ll be working the red carpet in a 
 
completely different manner.

Rihanna and Wentz will join the MTV News team as celebrity guest hosts for this year’s Movie Awards pre-show: Along with MTV News correspondents SuChin Pak and Sway Calloway, Rihanna and Wentz will be interviewing Hollywood’s brightest stars as they make their way inside the Sony Picture Studios in Culver City, California. The awards will air June 8 at 9 p.m. on MTV.

The Movie Awards pre-show will also feature several exclusive sneak peeks at some of this summer’s most anticipated blockbusters, including “Miami Vice,” “Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest” and “Superman Returns”; fans will also be treated to an exclusive first look at “Clerks II” on MTV’s broadband channel, Overdrive.

In fact, fans online will be able to experience a different take on the show by visiting MTV Overdrive at movieawards.mtv.com. Overdrive will feature a complete recap of the night’s events, interviews with the evening’s big winners, a look back at some of the show’s live performances (Christina Aguilera, AFI and Gnarls Barkley are among those who will be taking the stage ” see “Christina Aguilera, AFI To Perform At MTV Movie Awards”), recaps of the night’s most outrageous moments, backstage interviews and bonus footage. Overdrive will also feature performer diaries from AFI and Gnarls Barkley, and will trail both acts as they prepare for their Movie Awards performances and catch up with them following their sets.

Following the awards, MTV News will bring fans a post-show performance by Wolfmother; the band will play a second exclusive set on Overdrive.

The 2006 MTV Movie Awards will be hosted by Jessica Alba (see “Jessica Alba Tapped To Host MTV Movie Awards; Leather Chaps Not Yet Confirmed”) and include appearances by presenters Colin Farrell, Jessica Simpson, Kevin Spacey, Samuel L. Six months pregnant and hauling a baby around on your hip is no way for a pop princess to end her career, and in Britney Spears case, a missing-in-action husband makes it just that much easier to start over. According to an account in Victoria Newton’s Bizarre, Spears is planning to head into the studio to record a new CD, and word has it that veteran singer Dionne Warwick will join her on one of the tunes.

It also appears the young miss has decided she’s had enough of the mania surrounding some unfortunate incidences with her and baby Sean Preston, and the continued absence of hubbie Kevin Federline from her side for several weeks now started the rumor mill a-grinding again.

LINDSAY LOHAN has blasted tabloid rumours she’s feuding with JESSICA SIMPSON following a row at a party that left the pop star in tears. Lohan insists the story is far from true and she’s actually one of Simpson’s biggest supporters as she struggles through her divorce from NICK LACHEY. The MEAN GIRLS star reportedly snapped when Simpson refused to thank her for sending a tray of drinks over to her table at a recent Hollywood soiree. But she tells Interview magazine, “I did not go into this industry to be shown on the cover of some magazine fighting with Jessica Simpson, who I think is a sweet girl. “She’s going through a divorce, and it’s heard enough for her. “They (tabloids) basically said I was verbally harassing this girl. I’m not that person.”
