JC Chasez works with Justin Timberlake and Timbaland for new album

Chasez is ready to try it on his own again. JC Chasez has just finished recording his sophomore album, due in the first quarter of 2007 via Jive. The as-yet-untitled effort comes three years after his solo debut, “Schizophrenic,” and more than five since ‘N Sync’s last album, “Celebrity.” The 30-year-old wrote or co-wrote all of the songs on the album and has enjoyed the freedom of “being myself.”

“When you’re in the writing process for yourself, solo, there’s no compromise,” Chasez tells Billboard.com. “Before, you had four other guys you’ve got to pass [the song] by, and everybody has to decide based on the image of the group. It’s not that it was a problem — it was an act of respect. But when you’re [writing solo], everything is essentially you.”

Chasez describes the set as an amalgamation of the many genres he loves, with an emphasis on melodic pop elements. “It establishes a sound that is specific to me, a mash of all things,” he says. “I hope it’ll be fresh for radio and listeners. In ‘97 and ‘98, pop ruled. But now hip-hop is the phenomenon and top 40 radio doesn’t play pop records anymore.”

Chasez recruited celebrity producers like Timbaland, Dallas Austin and Jimmy Harry to co-write and co-engineer the tracks. The first single from the effort, “Until Yesterday,” will be released to radio Oct. 20 but can be sampled from Chasez’s Web site. The track was co-written by Chasez’s longtime friend and former bandmate Justin Timberlake. The pair has written several other songs together, although Chasez is unsure which ones will be included on the record.

“We always want each other to do well,” he says. “Each of our successes feeds the others’, in my opinion — it feeds the fire. Just because one of us does well, it doesn’t mean there’s no room for the other to do well.”

The two seemingly went head-to-head for headlines in 2004; Timberlake’s Janet Jackson/Super Bowl snafu was well underway as Chasez released “Schizophrenic,” and some believe an invitation to perform at the NFL’s Pro Bowl was rescinded because of the incident.

Despite a heavy promotional effort, the record only peaked at No. 17 on The Billboard 200. “That’s just life, man. Sometimes its a beautiful day, sometimes it rains,” he says. “I was very proud of that record and took a lot of chances artistically. It was just a matter of wrong place, wrong time.”

Along those lines, Chasez says ‘N Sync is unlikely to reform anytime soon. “We had a great time, but we’re in different places in our minds now,” he says. “It ran its course. It’s like, ok, we went to high school, and now it’s over.” {Billboard}

Nicole Richie says no way will her and Paris Hilton make up

No way will Paris and Nicole make up. The ‘Simple Life’ star insists the pair’s friendship is over and was finished a long time before they went public with the split.

Nicole told US chat show host Tyra Banks: “We haven’t been friends in about three years. There was no falling out. We’re just not the same people.” The denial of a reunion comes just days after Paris and Nicole were reported to be friends again.The two stars were filmed talking on the telephone last Friday (22.09.06). Paris apparently called Nicole to wish her a belated happy 25th birthday.

Nicole took the call while she was filling her car with gas and was so over-excited about talking to her friend that she dropped her phone.
It is still not known what came between the former best friends, who have known each other since they were children.
Both girls have denied the rumour that they fell out because Nicole showed Paris’s sex video ‘One Night in Paris’ to friends at a party.
It was also rumoured that the pair’s relationship imploded after Nicole demanded more money to appear on their hit US TV show ‘The Simple Life’.
