The battle for #1 Ludacris tops the charts

No number one debut for Janet Jackson. Ludacris takes top spot. I guess JD lost his battle after blogging on myspace begging fans to purchase multiple copies.

In a week featuring debuts in the first four slots of The Billboard 200, Ludacris’ “Release Therapy” bows at No. 1 with 309,000 copies, according to Nielsen SoundScan. The DTP/Def Jam effort is the rapper’s third chart-topper, following 2003’s “Chicken ‘N Beer” and 2004’s “Red Light District.” It is also his sixth No. 1 on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop albums tally.

Janet Jackson’s “20 Y.O.” enters at No. 2 with 296,000, Jackson’s eighth straight top three debut. However, it’s her smallest debut sales week since “The Velvet Rope” started at No. 1 with 202,000 in 1997.

    Im mad, she really deserves #1. The album sales isnt impressive neither.

    Well,it,s not bad for someone that’s been banned from MTV. I think she should of promoted that album better.I love Janet but posing half naked in magazines is not going to sell records.She only performed twice.On “The Today Show” and “Oprah”.What typer of marketing is that? Anywho,her albums is banging!Atlease she will be making more money with her garantied sold out tour.

    Well @ Babyboo, like u said she has been banned from MTV and MTV plays a major part in album promoting. There is only so much other stations she could perform on. But I agree that posing half nude isnt going to help, esspecially when the whole world is looking down on you for the same reason. But really…back to the super bowl thing, I think that was highly staged.

    “But really…back to the super bowl thing, I think that was highly staged. ” @dk super model ….if it was that was dumb because it made her albums sell much less….like i mean everyone loved all for you but for some reason damito jo which is just as good in my opimion and is one of my favorite albums….didnt do that well…..well lets hopr that maybe next week she will be able to go to number one.

    Yea I kno @ dosomething. She wasnt thinking like that tho, all she was thinkin bout is gettin the attention all on her. Everyone knows janet is a sucker for the spot light. Unforturnately this one has a negative turn around on her career
