Mariah Carey “The Diva” poor ticket sales
Mariah Carey’s concert in Hong Kong with just two days away was cancelled due to a poor response and what they characterized as “unreasonable demands” from the U.S. pop singer.The promoters, Concerts Asia, announced the decision in a statement posted on their Web site Thursday morning.
“As promoters of the Mariah Carey Hong Kong concert, we have decided to cancel the event effective immediately due to both the poor response of public ticket sales and also due to specific last-minute demands which we find wholly unreasonable and not with the best interests of Hong Kong, us and also the fans,” the statement said.
It did not elaborate on what Carey’s demands were. Concerts Asia declined further comment in an e-mail sent to The Associated Press.
Concerts Asia said it had only sold 4,000 tickets (capacity 13,000) despite a “substantial” advertising campaign.

ok, im not going to be as dramatic as the last person…but I do think this article is missing a few spots…..people in hong kong lover her…and I just recently went to her concert in california, and it was completely full……im sure she sold more than 4,000, but some people need to calm down up in here, mariah aint payin any of your bills to care about her that much

yeah, you’ve got to get the entire story, not just one article & substantiate that as fact. Reports say that she actually sold 10,000 seats which is good compared to the Rolling Stones’ 5,000 & U2’s tickets 12,00 sold at the same venue. But her management confirmed earlier today the real reason the show was cancelled was because the site missed several of their payments deadline & 2 days prior to the show, they still hadn’t paid in full & there was some doubt that they would so they had to go ahead & cancel the show.

Mariah did not have poor ticket sales, the promoters failed to pay her her $1 million fee, therefore she had no choice. Mariah has filed a pending lawsuit…Mimi’s tour was very successful grossing about $1 million per show in the US and even more at her overseas dates in Japan, Canada, etc with ticket sales alone. Her merchandise as well made her a boatload as nothing was less than $20. She sold out most of her arenas and was at 95% capacity overall. Those are the facts period… Mariah not only had the top selling album last year but backed it up on tour which she is not known for because she doesn’t have to kill herself touring like some other artists..
