1. Shock:
Everyone felt this at the beginning of Brit’s downward spiral. The 48hr marriage, her tour cancellation due to a “leg injury”, the budding romance with K-Fed who was a father and husband to a pregnant girlfriend. Then she hit y’all over the head with the delightful disaster, Chaotic.

2. Denial:
I’d say at this point, all of you fiercely had her back. You dogged Christina every chance you had. You kept reminding everyone she was the best-selling pop star in the world. You convinced yourself that Toxic was an amazing work of art!

3. Bargaining:
Then we see the unveiling of the TRUE Britney. “Barefoot In Gas Station Restrooms” Britney. “Chain Smoking” Britney. “Trailer Park Preggers” Britney. You all witness one baby mishap after another. THEN you tune into the Matt Lauer interview and see the “Self Pity” Britney. You convince yourself that once she loses the baby fat and starts “working” on her album, all will be as it was. Lord knows you all jumped for joy when she finally ditched Kevin, thinking this was the end of her horrible image.

4. Fear:
Then you witness Post-Kevin Britney, who is worse than before. Drinking and partying 4 nights out of the week. Going out pantiless in mini skirts, only to spread her legs wide open for all paps to snatch pictures of her snatch on 4 separate occasions. She looks worse than ever and to add insult to injury, she begins partying with those superficial assholes- Paris Hilton and Brandon Davis.

5. Anger:
Adri, you’re at this point right now. You’re all wondering-
“Where’s Larry Rudolph?”
“What’s she thinking?”
“Why won’t she just stay home, take care of her kids and work on her album?”
The answers, by the way, are: Larry Rudolph is probably in the same stage you are and has younger, smarter, more talented artists to represent; Britney has never been the sharpest tool in the shed; and she always goes out because… that’s where the paparrazi are. She has a studio in her house. A vacation from the public eye would probably do her some good. But Brit loves them flashbulbs.

Despair:
You’ll feel this when her album finally drops and flops. I’m not gonna lie. There will be TONS of hype. Enough to make you really have hope again. But I predict some “white-girl rapping” followed by robotic dance movements, which’ll seem too immature for a woman of … what 25? She’ll show she hasn’t grown or woke up one night to suddenly have a VOICE. The image that made her famous- the perfect body, beautiful fresh face, innocent Southern charm, robotic dance moves- has been shitted beyond the point recognition. Who does she have to blame for this- HERSELF. DO NOT THROW HER A PITY PARTY. There are tons of celebs that aren’t under a microscope, because they don’t give the tabloids something to write. She could’ve decided to keep her relationship and life private. But that’s far from what she wants. She LOVES the publicity, which overshadows the fact that her music sucks. Plain and simple.

Acceptance:
Finally, Britney will fade into the shadows of former talentless pop stars- Spicegirls, Tiffany, Debbie Gibson, etc. They had a good run while it lasted, but TIME is the true test of all stars. You’ll accept this and move on to new talentless singers like Cassie or somethin’.
