Former partner of Olivia Newton John, Patrick McDermott is not dead. According to U.S. authorities McDermott, who was believed to have drowned at sea four years ago apparently staged his own death in order to avoid paying debts. McDermott staged the plan with the help of his teenage son, who cashed in on the 150,000 insurance policy after his fathers “death”.
U.S. Coast Guard officials had previously concluded that McDermott had drowned in a boating tragedy, which Australian pop singer Olivia Newton-John had publicly accepted. Speculation that something wasn’t right eventually came out when it was revealed that before his disappearance, McDermott had filed for bankruptcy.
It is not known whether or not Olivia Newton-John was involved, and she declined a comment.
