A Continental Airlines Express flight 3407 (operated by Colgen Air) from Newark, NJ, to Buffalo, NY, crashed into a home in Clarence, NY – a suburb of Buffalo – around 10:20 P.M. Eastern on Thursday evening.
According to early reports from the Buffalo News, the dead include 44 passengers, four crew members and two people on the ground.
Crew members had reported mechanical problems as they approached Buffalo Niagara International Airport. The plane sat on the runway for 2 hours prior to departure.
It is not clear at this time what caused the crash exactly. First responders are still working at the site.
