Yankees 3rd Baseman, Alex Rodriguez, addressed nearly 200 reporters at the Yankees Spring Training facility in Tampa, Florida.

Alex, had admitted February 9th, during an exclusive ESPN interview with reporter Peter Gammons, that he had taken steroids – or at least something that triggered a positive test. Alex claims that the infractions occurred during his days with the Texas Rangers, during the 2001-2003 seasons. He told reporters today during his press conference, that his cousin (Whom he refused to name) bought the substance over the counter in the Dominican Republic and brought it to him. Alex said that they injected it approximately 2 times a month and that he couldn’t speak to the exact results the substance had on his performance.

Alex was asked directly about Human-Growth-Hormones (HGH) and confirmed that he had not used HGH. He did say that he had “dabbled with RipFuel during his Seattle days”, which is now on the banned MLB substance list as well.

Alex opened the conference with a prepared statement saying “I know that I’m in a position where I have to earn my trust back and over time I’m confident that people will see this as what it is a stupid mistake and a lesson learned.”

Alex also said “I knew we weren’t taking Tic-Tacs, I knew it was something that potentially perhaps was wrong,” he said.

Alex was surrounded by Yankees players and front-office staff. He was very emotional when addressing his teammates. Alex nearly broke down and was forced to take a moment and collect himself. Later, a report asked what was he trying to say. Alex thanked the reporter for the opportunity to address his teammates again, and processed to thank them for their support.
