Anika Noni Rose is first African-American Disney Princess

Dreamgirls star Anika Noni Rose was given her one-of-a-kind Princes Tiana doll at the American International Toy Fair in New York. Rose, who is a Tony award-winning actress is starring as Princess Tiana, the first African-American princess in a Disney Film. The new movie, The Princess and the Frog, is a fairy tale that focuses on a young girl, Princess Tiana, who lives in New Orleans’ French Quarter during the most noted era in New Orleans, the Jazz Age.

The film will also feature Oprah Winfrey as the voice of the queen.

The Princess and the Frog
will be coming to a theater near you on Christmas Day 2009.
