Washington Post Sports reporter, Pardon the Interruption star and Monday Night Football analyst, Tony Kornheiser has announced that he is leaving the booth of the ESPN Monday Night Football Broadcast.
Former Tampa Bay Buccaneers head coach, John Gruden, will be Tony’s replacement.
Tony said in a statement that “My fear of planes is legendary and sadly true. When I looked at the upcoming schedule it was the perfect storm that would’ve frequently moved me from the bus to the air.”
Not sure how I feel about Gruden as the replacement, I think that the “Booth” benefits from a writer/reporter in addition to Mike Tirico and Ron Jaworski. I love Tony!!
Gruden released this statement: “I grew up a fan of Monday Night Football, and whether I’ve coached on Monday night or watched, I’ve hardly missed a game all these years. To join Mike and Jaws in the booth and to work alongside this top-notch team is going to be a real thrill.”
