The first fatal accident in the 38-year operation in the Happiest Place On Earth’s monorail system, occurred yesterday.
The driver of one of the monorails, a 21-year old college student, Austin Wuennenberg was killed in the accident. Two of the monorail’s collided, killing one of the train’s operators and injuring at least 5 others. (They were all treated for minor injuries) The crash occured in the Magic Kingdom portion of the track.
The monorail system will remain closed until an investigation has been completed.
I’m sure WDW will conduct a thorough investigation, if you have visited Disney you know that the Monorail is not only a safe mode of transportation but a great experience!
