Walter Cronkite, the long-time CBS Evening News Anchorman has died at the age of 92.

From 1962-1981, Walter was the most trusted news man in America. He was the face of CBS News and was in millions of American’s homes for some of the most pivotal events in American History. For nearly 20 years, he covered the biggest stories of the ’60s and ’70s: civil rights, the Space Race, the Apollo missions, Vietnam and Watergate. His sound bite breaking the news to the country of President Kennedy’s Assassination is still one of the most recognizable in history.

Cronkite retired from “Evening News” in 1981, and was followed by Dan Rather at CBS.

His wife of nearly 65 years, Betsy Maxwell Cronkite, preceded him in death in 2005. The couple had 3 children, Nancy Cronkite, Kathy Cronkite, and Walter (Chip) Cronkite III (who is married to actress Deborah Rush) and 4 grandchildren.

Our condolences to the Cronkite family during this difficult time.
