In these days of touch economic times, many American’s are looking for new ways to save money. Since communting is a huge expense for most workers, a common solution has been to purchase a “Smart Car”. Check out this pictue of a wreck outside of New Orleans.

I think maybe I’d feel safer in something a little larger.

Smart car wheels have thee lugs.

The car between those trucks has a 5 lug wheel.

It’s not a Smart Car.

“I think maybe I’d feel safer in something a little larger. ”

…Yeah. And if I jumped off a cliff, I think I’d feel safer wearing a thick coat than a sweater. Please….

Nothing is going to save you from being sandwiched between two trucks. Not even a sanctimonious attitude toward economy cars. ;)

It was a Ford Escape…the smart car does suck though!

Yeah not a smart car. I’m not sure any car would have done enough to protect against that but I think the Smart Fortwo with it’s safety cell would have held up better.

Maybe you should mention the picture is a fake. Look at the two pictures again. The Smart has three lug wheels, and in the picture the wheel is five lug.

The smart has plastic panels on all sides, and in the picture it look slike bent metal.

If you see the full-res version of the picture you can tell it’s a photoshopped picture.

Yeah, Fake, it’s a Ford Escape SUV, check it out on Snopes.
I drive a Smart and the cage surrounding the passengers would not collapse as completely as the pic.
OP’s have good eye to spot the lug difference.

In as much one might think a bicycle is safe in traffic compared to a full sized pickup, the same could be said for this size of this particular vehicle.

i mean, don’t get me wrong, I would love an economical car, however, the practicallity of “being visible” doesn’t register for me especially well considering all of the type of vehicles out on the road right now.
