Senator Edward “Teddy” Kennedy passed away yesterday (August 26) at his Hyannis Port, Massachusetts home. Ted had been battling brain cancer.
Ted was the youngest of 9 Children, baby brother to President John F. Kennedy and Bobby Kennedy.
He is survived by his wife, Victoria Reggie Kennedy, sister Jean Kennedy Smith and his three children with ex-wife Joan Kennedy: Edward Kennedy Jr. (Teddy), Kara Kennedy and Patrick Kennedy.
“We’ve lost the irreplaceable center of our family and joyous light of our lives, but the inspiration of his faith, optimism and perseverance will live on in our hearts forever. We thank everyone who gave him care and support over the past year, and everyone who stood with him for so many years in his tireless march for progress toward justice, fairness and opportunity for all. He loved this country and devoted his life to serving it. He always believed that our best days were still ahead, but it’s hard to imagine any of them without him.”
Ted served as a US Senator for 47 years.
