Due to the mistake of a fertility clinic, Carolyn Savage is carrying another couple’s child. Carolyn and her husband Sean found out about the mistake shortly after they found out they were pregnant with their fourth child, and due to religious beliefs, decided to carry the baby to term.
The couple says that when the baby is born, he will be given to his biological parents.
“It’s been difficult, but what we have told ourselves is that this is a gift for another couple that we didn’t know eight months ago. And what we will give them is our focus and doing what is right for the baby. That is how we are going to get through this,” said Carolyn Savage.
She added: “Of course, we will wonder about this child every day for the rest of our lives. We have hopes for him, but they’re his parents, and we’ll defer to their judgment on when and if they ever tell him what happened and any contact that’s afforded us. We just want to know he’s healthy and happy.”
Doctors had informed the Savages that this would be the last child she could carry safely, so the couple plans to use a surrogate for their next child.
