Elizabeth Smart took the stand today to testify today in a competence hearing for her alleged abductor Brian David Mitchell.
Elizabeth revealed during her testimony that she was “raped daily” and described Mitchell as “evil”. Elizabeth was escorted to the Salt Lake City Federal Court house by her mother, Lois Smart. You may recall Elizabeth was abducted from her Salt Lake City, Utah home in June of 2002.
Now 21 years old Elizabeth, testified for nearly an hour and forty minutes, speaking for the first time publicly about the entire ordeal.
Mitchell wasn’t in the courtroom during Elizabeth’s testimony. He had been kicked out for his incessant singing of hymns. I certainly hope he is ruled competent to stand trial.
