At the 2009 World Magic Awards, presenter and star of ‘The Young and The Restless’ shared a very interesting opinion when asked what she thought of Eric Braeden’s leave from the hit CBS soap.
Braeden, who has played Victor Newman for nearly 30 years, was asked to re-enter contract negotiations mid-contract and has since announced he will be leaving the show.
Michael Fairman had a chance to chat with Adrienne, asking her, “Eric Braeden has, for the moment, left Y&R during a contract dispute with SONY and the show. What are your thoughts on the hold-out and the stalemate between actor and the powers-that-be?”
Frantz responded, “They are cutting contracts all around. I mean everybody has to bite the bullet. It’s not like anyone gets special treatment. If you don’t want to play fair with everyone, then don’t play. If you want to step out…. everybody is dealing with the same stuff. So if anybody thinks they are better than anyone else, then they should leave if they want to. It’s a cast. We are all working together. We are all working our hardest to make it go, and if you don’t want to work with everyone than you are not helping.”
Well I guess we know where she stands!

I am saddened to see Eric Braden leave the show. However, the direction that the story has been going lately concerns me more. The reality of a heart transplant patien’s recovery in a private room with no more than an oxygen tube leaves me to wonder about the portrayal of the character. He deserved to look his part, sickly, with tubes and gadgets surrounding him. His acting was certainly capable of it!
It will be interesting, to say the least how the void of “Victor Newman” will be filled. I suspect with Ashley not being divorced at the time of his death will have much to do with another string of long, overkilled story lines that just never seem to end.
I have watched the show since day 1 and will likely continue to do so.
I am totally shocked that victor or eric is leaving, he is such a great actor. I can not believe the producers will let him leave. He is the whole show. The writers in my opinion have done a terrible job in the story line. Adam stealing sharons baby and giving it to ashley. Ashley has become such a bitch I can not believe it. I will not watch the show without victor or eric in it and I have been watching since it began.
I’ve watched the Y&R since day 1 as have many of my fellow fighters.
We’ve decided that victor’s last show will be all of ours also.

I’m in shock that Victor is leaving the show.. the Y&R will never ever be the same without Mr. Newman… I would have to say that i will also stop watching the show if Victor isn’t put back on…
I cannot believe that Victor will no longer be part of Y&R. I was very disapointed and sad to hear the news. He is a big part of Y&R. What a loss! Although I am happy to know that Eric respects himself and values his work to stand up to one giant company. I am behind him 100% but I will miss him. I loved what he showed as values such as never giving up and working hard to achieve success. Thank you Eric! I don’t think we have all the facts. I don’t think Eric can say all the details on air. I hope that the company will try to find a solution to bring him back to Y&R if the damage is not too deep.
The funny part about this chick “Amber” statements are that most real Y&R fans wish they would just get rid of her! She is a horrible actress and her story line never makes since! One day she’s on her way to jail and then she’s ok and then her boyfriend on the show is gay and couldn’t play a straight guy if he wanted to! The show has went to hell with these new writers and I lost interest after collen died! Ugh now without victor I give up on trying to watch it! Get rid of amber…Gloria.. Adam (btw his story line just don’t make since) and give Eric (victor Newman) their pay checks and with whatevers left find new writers!!! Oh yeah chick (amber) have you ever heard of a franchise player? That’s what victor is… They make the show so he should get paid more…. Not like you… If they wrote her off tomorrow I’m sure not many would care! Bye Y&R I’ve watched since I was in 5th grade but now I’m done…oh yeah and so is the show!
I agree with everyone, when Victor leaves the show it will be finished for alot of people. Victor was the show along with Nikki, plus the story line with Adam is stupid. He is suppose to be blind and he is everywhere doing things that would be hard to get away with if he had 2 good eyes. And taking Sharon’s baby was one of them. Why hasent anyone checked with the funeral home. Who paid for all this? Get her and Nick back together and let Phyliss and Jack pay for some of the bad things they have done. If Victor goes so goes the show.
If Eric is correct in his comments concerning the methodology of the contracts then Adrienne is unfortunately wrong. What the shows producers are doing is just simply getting rid of older actors and saving money on salaries. Sickening.
