Louis Vincent Albano, better known as Captain Lou Albano, has passed away at the age of 76. Albano had been in the care of hospice at his Carmel, New York home. Albano, who suffered a from series of health complications in recent years, passed away at 3:30 a.m., surrounded by his wife of 56 years, Geraldine, and his family.
Captain Lou gained Pop Culture status after he appeared in the Cindy Lauper “Girls Just Wanna Have Fun” music video. He later went on to become Cindy’s manager.
An entertainment giant, Lou appeared in the first Wrestlemania at Madison Square Garden in 1986 and was inducted into the World Wrestling Entertainment Hall of Fame in 1996.
