Meb Keflezighi won the New York City (NYC) ING Marathon (26.2 miles) on Sunday in a time of 2:09:15. Meb became the first American to win the race since Alberto Salazar in 1982.

Keflezighi, is 34 years old and was raised in San Diego, California. He is one of eleven children and became a US citizen in 19983..

American men in the top ten were Ryan Hall finishing 4th place, Jorge Torres finishing 7th, Nick Arciniaga finishing 8th, Abdi Abdirahman finishing 9th, and Jason Lehmkuhle finishing 10th. Best U.S. women’s finisher was Magdalena Lewy Boulet in 6th place.
