A hostage situation erupted this morning when the Principal of Stissing Mountain High School, 90 miles north of New York City, was taken hostage.
According to Town Supervisor, Gregg Pulver, and the armed suspect, who attended Stissing during the 1980s, head the school headmaster at gunpoint for approximately 2 hours. A SWAT team and 100 other police officers from the Dutchess County Sheriff’s Department were dispatched to the scene.
The school has around 500 students and 100 faculty and staff.
“He is in custody, he has given himself up. No gunshots fired. The students are safe. We have a good outcome.”
