Well looks like Jessica Simpson has offered Nick Lachey what is an “insulting” property settlement offer, banking on the assumption that Lachey does not want to press the matter in court. Multiple sources connected with the former couple tell TMZ that Simpson has offered Lachey even less than $1.5 million to settle the division of property. Under California law, Lachey would be entitled to half of what the couple earned during their marriage. The Associated Press reports that in 2004 alone, Simpson raked in $30 million. We’re told that Simpson’s reps believe that Lachey will fold because he does not want to make it appear that he is after her money. They also know that Lachey is still in love with his estranged wife and believe he does not have the stomach to square off with her in court. Indeed, sources have confirmed to TMZ that Joe Simpson, Jessica’s dad, has called Nick, urging him to take the settlement so the two can “end as friends.” And other friends and reps of Jessica have contacted Nick, trying to pressure him into a settlement. Sources say Lachey “absolutely will not ask for spousal support,” even though legally he has a right to press that claim. He will not, however, accept a paltry settlement that in no way approaches what he would be legally entitled to under the law. In 2004 Jessica said, “If anything were to happen to me and Nick, I’ve had a great life with him and he would deserve half of everything I have.” It appears she has had a radical change of heart.

Is Nick Lachey moving on? According to the news looks like Nick is moving on with his love life. Nick six months after the breakup of his marriage to Jessica Simpson? Plenty, it seems. The singer “ while managing to escape the attention of the press “ has been dating stylist Kim Kardashian for the past month, sources tell People.

The twosome chatted the night away at Hollywood hot spot Shag May 15 and were photographed May 24 at an afternoon showing of The Da Vinci Code in Westwood. (The pair held hands as they exited the theater, but separated when photographers started snapping.)

“They’re sweet on each other,” a source close to the couple tells PEOPLE. “It’s the beginning stages of a relationship.” (His rep had no comment.)

What’s the attraction? Friends point out that Lachey, 32, and Kardashian, 25 “ who met at a party for Arizona Cardinals quarterback Matt Leinart last month “ have at least one thing in common: failed marriages. Kardashian, whose father is the late O.J. Simpson trial attorney Robert Kardashian, divorced music producer Damon Thomas in 2004.

“Part of the attraction is they have both gone through similar life situations,” says the source. “They developed a bond.”

Still, Lachey may be going slow. “For Nick to settle down,” says a pal, “it will take someone who is a lifelong partner.”

Lachey didn’t have to do much to get in shape for the Axe shoot - he recently scored $500,000 (GBP278,000) to appear in celebrity trainer GUNNAR PETERSON’s infomercial, after the fitness guru whipped him into shape.

LINDSAY LOHAN has blasted tabloid rumours she’s feuding with JESSICA SIMPSON following a row at a party that left the pop star in tears. Lohan insists the story is far from true and she’s actually one of Simpson’s biggest supporters as she struggles through her divorce from NICK LACHEY. The MEAN GIRLS star reportedly snapped when Simpson refused to thank her for sending a tray of drinks over to her table at a recent Hollywood soiree. But she tells Interview magazine, “I did not go into this industry to be shown on the cover of some magazine fighting with Jessica Simpson, who I think is a sweet girl. “She’s going through a divorce, and it’s heard enough for her. “They (tabloids) basically said I was verbally harassing this girl. I’m not that person.”
